Description


The group combines expertise on technologies, energy system organisations and institutions, and the wider policy and regulatory context for energy. We apply a range of quantitative and qualitative research tools and methods including innovation systems, energy system modelling and scenarios, and transitions management. This leads to preparation of strategy and investment roadmaps for organisations' funding, public and private investment and government departments.

The Policy and Innovation Group is composed by enthusiastic researchers dedicated to the analysis and promotion of ocean energy.

The Policy and Innovation Group is composed by enthusiastic researchers dedicated to the analysis and promotion of ocean energy.

Expertise includes low carbon roadmapping, developing action plans and strategies; physical and numerical modelling, economic and social impacts of ocean energy; life cycle analysis and techno-economic tool development and commercialisation.


Development Activities

The Policy and Innovation Group led the FP7 DTOcean project developing design tools for deployment of ocean energy demonstration arrays and has led strategy planning workpackages in a number of other high profile European projects. The group is currently supporting a number of projects involved in the Wave Energy Scotland innovation calls.
