Engagement with the full supply chain to optimise exploitation opportunities 4. Academic partners at Scotland's leading universities 5. Extensive network of funders and strategic partners

CENSIS is the Centre of Excellence for Sensor and Imaging Systems (SIS) with expertise spanning everything from sensor hardware design to cloud storage and data visualisation. The team provides business development and engineering support, funding, project management and mentorship in response to industry challenges. CENSIS works in partnership with the Scottish research community.

Capability Statement

CENSIS works with industry and wider sensor system technology supply chain to identify expertise and technology solutions to address challenges companies face. The Centre supports companies to build fundable R&D projects including leveraging funding from Scottish regional development agencies and other bodies. CENSIS can use its own funds to support work undertaken with Scottish universities.

CENSIS has its own engineering team (with hardware, software and firmware expertise) whose members all have significant industry experience, e.g., with Aker Solutions and FMC Technologies. The engineering team is supported by business development staff and professionally qualified Project Managers with broad cross sector experience in SIS technologies.

Development Activities

CENSIS is building significant capabilities around the ‘Internet of Things’. A LoRa Alliance member (an IoT communications network), CENSIS offers support to companies interested in developing IoT capabilities via its Connected Devices Development Centre (CDDC). This is a facility within CENSIS offering a complete suite of devices and software, hot desk space, mentoring and engineering as well as a professional demonstration areas to showcase end products.
